{"id":50,"date":"2014-07-05T15:24:21","date_gmt":"2014-07-05T15:24:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.briwilson.org\/blog\/?p=50"},"modified":"2014-07-05T15:24:21","modified_gmt":"2014-07-05T15:24:21","slug":"medal-pre-conference-symposium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.briwilson.org\/blog\/?p=50","title":{"rendered":"MEDAL Pre-conference Symposium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Announcement from Casey Westerman,\u00c2\u00a0Metro Detroit Archivists League (MEDAL):<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m pleased to announce a <strong>pre-conference symposium<\/strong>, organized by the Metro Detroit Archivists League, to be held at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuther.wayne.edu\/\">Walter P. Reuther Library of Labor and Urban Affairs<\/a> on <strong>July 30, 2014<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The archives and archivists of Southeast Michigan will be well represented at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.archivists.org\/2014\">Society of American Archivists Annual Meeting<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0in Washington, D.C. this August, with archivists from the University of Michigan, The Henry Ford, Wayne State University, and other institutions presenting papers and speaking in panel discussions. The Metro Detroit Archivists League will hold a symposium on July 30, two weeks before the conference, to allow speakers to practice their talks and react to constructive commentary from their peers. This is also an opportunity for those who won&#8217;t be attending the conference to hear a handful of presentations from area archivists.<\/p>\n<p>The program is tentative at this point, but I&#8217;ve had confirmation of participation from four speakers at this point. All interested archivists and archives professionals are invited to join the symposium, which will take place from <strong>10:00 AM until noon<\/strong> in the Reuther Conference Room of the <strong>Walter P. Reuther Library<\/strong>.
